Schedule (Denmark)









The seminar- Denmark

Students and teachers – please bring along your laptops and cell phones in order to use the Wi-Fi at the school.
Students – You will need to bring a sleeping bag and a bath towel for the week. Pillows will be provided by the school. I also suggest that you bring some form of water bottle to use for the week.
Day 1 – Sunday 22nd January 2017
Arrival of students and teachers at their destination. Maybe warm up activities in the evening before retiring. German group arrives at 17:25. The French group arrives at around 19:30. They may like something to eat in the evening. The Spanish and Turkish groups arrive rather late 21:30 and later, I expect they will just want to sleep..

Day 2 – Monday 23rd January 2017
6:30- The showers at the gym will be open
7:30-8:15 Breakfast in the Cantina before the Danish students arrive – please clear off the tables afterwards
8:15-8:45 Cleaning the sleeping rooms in order to use them for the group-work etc. during the day.  

08:45 – 09:15 Try out the video conference with an Introduction from the host (David Helliwell) (if it works? If not someone in Spain will have to go through the program)
09:15 – 10:00 Warm up activities followed by Videos of stereotypes played at each conference…
10:00 – 10:30 A review of what each nation thinks about how true/false these stereotypes are, have they changed over time? Should or can they be changed? Where do they come from? (Media, films, experiences). As a large group
10:30 – 11:00 Group discussion (A, B and C) on the subject, each group gives a short summary on their ideas. This will be shared with the others.
11:00 – 11:30 Play children’s games from Turkey

11:30 – 12:30 Lunch

12:30 – 14:00 a discussion on traditions
group A - Christmas and New year.
Group B - another Religious festival.
Group C -  marriage.
students make a visual summary using posters and/or PowerPoint
14:00 – 15:00 each of the groups to present their ideas to the others and make comparisons. (The Danish students can join at 13:45 and listen to the presentations – perhaps participate in a discussion on traditions)

15:15 – 16:30 Get to know each other – The Danish students show the small city of Ringe

16:30 The Spanish and the French groups supplied with some Danish students go to the stores and buy ingredients for the cooking of supper and start preparing an evening meal at “Ringe friskole” just across the street from Midtfyns Gymnasium
Some free time for the rest of the students and the Danish students might go home, make homework or just stay at MfG.
18:00 – 19:00 Evening meal

A film about traditions from one of the 5 countries with English subtitles.

Day 3 – Tuesday 24th   January 2017
7:00- The showers at the gym will be open
7:30-8:15 Breakfast in the Cantina before the Danish students arrive – please clear off the tables afterwards
8:15-8:45 Cleaning the sleeping rooms in order to use them for the group-work etc. during the day.  

08:45 – 09:15 Watch video diaries from other conference and discuss
09:15 – 10:00  Each group presents their history PowerPoint to the other groups. Then an Expert gives a lecture on positive vs negative nationalism
10:00 – 11:00 Group discussion on the subject, each group prepares a poster and/or PowerPoint of their ideas. These will be shared with the others.
11:00 – 11:30 Play children’s games from France
11:30 – 12:30 Lunch

12:30 – 15:00 2nd film about traditions from one of the 5 countries with English subtitles.

15:00 – 16:00 short videos about meals. Discussion on healthiest, tastiest, common menu possible?

16:00 –  The Turkish and the Germans groups supplied with some Danish students go to the stores and buy ingredients for the cooking of supper and start preparing an evening meal at “Ringe friskole” just across the street from Midtfyns Gymnasium
Some free time for the rest of the students and the Danish students might go home, make homework or just stay at MfG.
18:00 – 19:00 Prepare and share international food
19:00 + free time

Day 4 – Wednesday 25th January 2017
(The Danes join the three groups the whole day)
6:30  The showers at the gym will be open
Before breakfast: Cleaning the sleeping rooms in order to use them for the group-work etc. during the day.  
7:30-8:00 Breakfast in the Cantina before the Danish students arrive – please clear off the tables afterwards
08:10 - 10:00 Each student in each group presents their mind maps to the others. Try and make a possible EU/ democratic/common mind map for each group.
10:00 – 10:30 Share videos of previous days work from other conference
10:30 – 11:00 Group discussion on the subject, each group gives a short summary on their ideas. Is there a change over generations ?
11:00 – 11:30 Play children’s games from Denmark

11:20 – 12:00  Lunch

12:00 + Battle in the Gym
After the battle visit at the students homes – having dinner in their houses and return at MfG at 21.30

The teachers are invited to Thorkils house for dinner

Day 5 – Thursday 26th January 2017
(The Danes are with you 8.10-9.45 & again from 12)
6:30  The showers at the gym will be open
Before breakfast: Cleaning the sleeping rooms in order to use them for the group-work etc. during the day.  
7:30-8:00 Breakfast in the Cantina before the Danish students arrive – please clear off the tables afterwards

8:10-9:45  Each group presents religion survey results. Prepare posters on important aspects for age group. Prepare Questions for panel
10:00 – 10:30 Share videos of previous days work from other conference
10:30 – 11:00 Panel discussion including religious experts (If they can be found in either Spain and/or Denmark). If not there will be a couple of TED talks followed by a group discussion
11:00 – 11:30 Play children’s games from Spain
11:30 – 12:00 Lunch
12:15 Bus/train to Odense for a cultural visit and free time afterwards.
16:45 Bus back to Ringe (takes 45 min.)
17:30 Evening meal at the MfG
19:00  Dance at the HOY (Half of the group at 19:00 and the other half of the group at 20:00 with a professional dancer)
21:00 Good night snack at HOY or at MfG

Day 6– Friday 27th January 2017
(the Danish students can join the group at 13:55)
6:30  The showers at the gym will be open
Before breakfast: Cleaning the sleeping rooms in order to use them for the group-work etc. during the day.  
7:30-8:00 Breakfast in the Cantina before the Danish students arrive – please clear off the tables afterwards
08:15– 11:00 A film about traditions from a third of the 5 countries with English subtitles. Played at both venues
11:00 – 11:30 Play children’s games from Germany
11:30 – 12:30 Lunch
12:30-13:30 Comparison, discussion of the films in groups.
13:30 – 16:00 conclusions in video diaries what have you learnt this week
16:00 – 17:00 video sharing and evaluation papers

17:30 – 19:00 Evening meal (Pizzas at the HOY)
19:00 + relaxing and dancing traditional dances from all participating countries, playing games at the HOY (or at the MfG) and leaving party.

Day 7– Saturday 28th January 2017
08:00 – 09:00 Breakfast
09:00 + bye bye
